The 50th anniversary of CSM stamp
It represents a polyp of the tropical coral Stylophora pistillata (actual size 1 mm), the polyp consists of a central mouth surrounded by several stinging tentacles. This coral is grown in CSM’s coral culture facility where tropical conditions are recreated.
Most of the experiments performed at CSM are performed on this tropical species. The original “mother” colonies were taken from the Red Sea 20 years ago
