The Centre Scientifique de Monaco celebrates its fiftieth anniversary with a stamp

The Centre Scientifique de Monaco (CSM) celebrates its fiftieth anniversary with a stamp CSM was established 50 years ago by Prince Rainier III.

To celebrate its 50th anniversary a postage stamp was created by collaboration with the Office of Stamps issued by the Principality of Monaco.

The 50th anniversary of CSM stamp It represents a polyp of the tropical coral Stylophora pistillata (actual size 1 mm), the polyp consists of a central mouth surrounded by several stinging tentacles. This coral is grown in CSM’s coral culture facility where tropical conditions are recreated. Most of the experiments performed at CSM are performed on this tropical species. The original “mother” colonies were taken from the Red Sea 20 years ago
