Visit of the CSM laboratories by the winners of the "National Ocean Sciences Bowl »

The Centre Scientifique de Monaco received a few weeks ago the winners of the « National Ocean Sciences Bowl » organized by the American Association « Consortium for Ocean Leadership ». This consortium is a Washington DC-based nonprofit organization that represents 89 of the leading public and private ocean research education institutions, aquaria and industry. The goals of this consortium is to advance research, education and sound ocean policy. The National Ocean Sciences Bowl is an academic competition for high school students that test their knowledge of the marine sciences in many topics including biology, chemistry, physics and geology. The winners of the 2016 NOSB received a grant from the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation to visit the Principality and discover its many activities in the field of marine environment. The winner team came from Albany High School (near Berkeley and San Francisco, California, USA).

The six winners of 2016 NOSB, accompanied by Melissa Brodeur, Program Manager of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) and Jon White, President and CEO of the Consortium for Ocean Leadership visited the laboratories of the CSM. They were particularly amazed by the culture of reef-building corals and excited to heat the potential links between coral research and applications for human health.
