Offres d'emploi

The Centre Scientifique de Monaco (CSM) is currently recruiting for a postdoctoral position. The CSM is an internationally recognized public research center in Monaco with a strong focus on coral reef and cancer research. The CSM is organized into three departments that focus on understanding the effects of environmental stress on different organisms and researching potential therapeutic treatments. With access to several nearby research facilities, the CSM is well equipped to support innovative research projects."

                                       POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN CORAL ECOPHYSIOLOGY

Job description:
  • The Coral Ecophysiology team of the CSM is looking for a postdoctoral researcher starting September 2024. A CSM postdoctoral fellow is a 12-month full-time temporary position with the option of an annual extension up to 2 years. This position is fully funded for two years by a grant from the Coral Research Development Accelerator Programme (CORDAP).
  • The project aims to enhance the antioxidant capacity of corals to mitigate bleaching during thermal stress events.
  • The main responsability of the Postdoctoral researcher will therefore focus on the development of novel approaches to improve the antioxidant capacity of corals and test these approaches in thermal stress experiments under laboratory conditions..
  • The successful candidate will work with the entire Coral Ecophysiology team (5 researchers, 2 PhD students, 2 technicians and 1 engineer) led by Dr. Christine Ferrier-Pagès, in collaboration with Dr. Laura Marangoni and Dr. Emma Camp (UTS, Sydney). He/she may also collaborate with a number of other institutions located close to the CSM, such as the University of Nice-Sophia-Antipolis, the Marine Station of Villefranche-sur-mer and the International Atomic Energy Agency in Monaco.
  • He/she will have access to a range of equipment, including facilities for stable isotope analysis, HPLC, coral cultures and aquaria with running seawater for manipulative experiments.

Candidate requirements :

We are looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral researcher. The main requirements are:
  • A PhD from a recognised university in biology, ecology or oceanography, preferably with a focus on corals, a background in chemistry and statistical data analysis.
  • Well-developed laboratory skills, including clean sampling and sample preparation of seawater and biological material.
  • Proficiency in sample analysis and data interpretation, and with demonstrated ability to independently write research papers and publish in international peer reviewed journals.
  • Proficiency in English at a high level.
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems in the field and in the laboratory.

Conditions :
  • The position is currently funded for 1 year and may be extended for 1 more year depending on performance.
  • The net salary is 3100 euros/month, (+health insurance and pension). The project also covers research expenses, travel expenses to disseminate research, and travel to work with collaborators.
  • Position starts end of summer 2024.

if you are interested, please send, preferably in a PDF document : CV, cover letter (maximum 2 pages), outlining your research interests related to the research topics of the lab, your suitability for the position, the contact details for three (3) professional referees, to Christine Ferrier-Pagès (ferrier@centrescientifique.mc).
